On the solution of Poisson's equation on a regular hexagonal grid using FFT methods (Q1822470)

This paper discusses a FFT method for the solution of the discrete Poisson equation on a rectangle using a regular hexagonal grid. The formulation is fully described and comparisons of results with those obtained on a rectangular grid indicate that, for comparable accuracy, the hexagonal grid is found to be considerably more efficient than the five-point rectangular approach.
