Generalized descent method for minimization of functionals (Q1822757)

In a previous paper [Issled. Prikl. Mat. 4, 15-22 (1977; Zbl 0665.49015); English translation in J. Sov. Math. 39, No.5, 2958-2963 (1987)] we considered a general iterative method that finds a point of a convex set \(\Omega\) in a Hilbert space, which we called the method of generalized descent into the set \(\Omega\). In this note, which is a direct continuation of the work loc. cit., we apply the ideas of this method to mimization of functionals.
