The results of the paper [\textit{J. A. Ball} and the second author, Sel. Pap. 7th Int. Sympos. Math. Theory networks Syst., Stockholm 1985, 285- 296 (1986; Zbl 0612.47015)] are transfered to the large class of infinite-dimensional systems. This class is larger than the nuclear class for which this problem was solved by \textit{K. Glover}, \textit{R. F. Curtain} and \textit{J. R. Partington} by an approximation approach [Cambridge Univ., SIAM J. Control Optimization 26, 863-898 (1988)].
