The author proves that a centrally symmetric octagon (or hexagon) cannot be dissected into an odd number of triangles of equal areas. This property was earlier proved for quadrilaterals [\textit{P. Monsky}, Am. Math. Monthly 77, 161-164 (1970; Zbl 0187.197)]. The author conjectures that no centrally symmetric polygon can be so dissected and offers additional evidence to support the conjecture.
