The author presents some numerical results for a system of two coupled partial differential equations arising in chemistry. This system is considered on the symmetric interval (-1,1) with symmetric boundary conditions and equal coefficients for the two species. He uses a global collocation method to discretize the equations. For some values of the diffusion coefficient the numerical results obtained are in qualitative good agreement with those obtained by a more advanced method. Moreover, the author realizes a very scrupulous study on bifurcation and stability of this isothermal autocatalytic reaction- diffusion system.
