The author considers a piecewise linear map F of a bounded interval into itself and studies the Perron-Frobenius operator P of F restricted on the space of functions with bounded variation. He introduces a matrix \(\Phi\) (z) describing the spectrum of P and computes the zeta-function for F in terms of \(\Phi\) (z).
