Abdruck einer Abhandlung \textit{Newton}s aus dem Jahre 1672 und Kommentar dazu. In dieser Abhandlung hat \textit{Newton} den experimentellen Beweis für die Heterogenität des Lichts erbracht, den Zusammenhang zwischen Farbe und Brechungserscheinungen aufgedeckt und Folgerungen aus diesen Entdeckungen ausgesprochen.
