    Nimmt man an, daß die kosmische Strahlung eine Korpuskularstrahlung hoher Geschwindigkeit ist (\(10^9\)~Volt Energie nach \textit{B. Rossi} (Rendiconti Accad. d. L. Roma (6) 11 (1930), 478-482), so ergibt sich, daß sie die Erde nur in zwei begrenzten Zonen um die magnetischen Pole treffen kann. Da fast alle Gegenden, in denen kosmische Strahlung gemessen wurde, außerhalb dieser Zonen liegen, muß die Strahlung entweder elektromagnetischer Natur sein, oder korpuskular, aber von sehr viel höherer Energie als \(10^9\)~Volt, oder terrestrischen Ursprungs.
