Die \textit{Stieltjes}sche Abschätzung für \(P_n(\cos \vartheta)\) (\(n\) ganz) (1890; F. d. M. 22, 511 (JFM 22.0511.*)-514) wird auf Funktionen erweitert, deren Index \(n \geq 1\), aber nicht notwendig ganzzahlig ist. Ferner ergeben sich Abschätzungen für \(P_n^{\pm m}(\cos \vartheta)\) für reelle \(n\) und \(m, \, n\geq 1, \, m>0, \, n - m + 1 > 0\) und für \(P_n^{\pm m} (cos \vartheta) P_{n+2}^{\pm} (\cos \vartheta)\). Entsprechende Relationen werden für die \(Q_n^m\) aufgestellt.
