The authors establish several inequalities for positive semi-definite Hermitian matrices that involve Hadamard and Kronecker products, thus extending previous results by \textit{B. Wang, X. Zhang} and \textit{F. Zhang} [Linear Algebra Appl. 302-303, 163-172 (1999; Zbl 0947.15010)] and \textit{S. Liu} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 243, No.~2, 458-463 (2000; Zbl 0949.15026)]. Moreover, full characterizations of the equality case in some inequalities from the beforementioned articles are presented.
