The author introduces and describes one-dimensional cyclotomic Gauss-Selberg sums generalizing the classical Gaussian sums. The main result is their connection with Plancherel-type formulas for irreducible self-dual unitary spherical representations of the one-dimensional double affine Hecke algebra. Gauss-type sums related to deformations of the Verlinde algebras are also considered.
