The author derives a formula for the index form associated to the volume of a compact orientable minimal submanifold \(P\) of a Sasakian manifold \(M\), where the submanifold \(P\) is assumed to be orthogonal to the structure vector field of \(M\). Using this formula, stability questions are investigated. Similar results are then obtained for compact orientable minimal anti-invariant submanifolds of Kähler manifolds.
