Reaction-diffusion systems with skew-gradient structure (Q1848683)

The author discusses stability of steady states for the skew-gradient systems showing the development within this field. He considers pulse solutions (on \(\mathbb{R}^1\)) together with a criterion for the instability of a standing pulse. Equivalent condition for Eckhaus instability is also presented. In the case of bounded domains ``a relation between the stability properites of the steady state and mini-maximizing properties for some functional'' is shown.
