Higher-degree analogs of the determinant line bundle (Q1850155)

In the style of the well known Quillen determinant line bundle construction in the present paper the author gives an analogous construction for a family of Dirac-type operators on an odd-dimensional manifold. Here, an abelian gerbe-with-connection takes over the role of the determinant line bundle in the Quillen construction whereas the curvature of the connection is replaced by the three-form component of the Atiyah-Singer families index theorem. Moreover, a partial extension for degree greater than three is given.
