The problem considered in this paper refers to a coated right-angled perfectly conducting wedge with a high contrast coating that possesses absorptions. It is shown that over much of each face of the coating the surface impedance observed by a plane TE-wave impinging on the wedge is constant and the same as if the coating were backed by a perfectly conducting infinite plane; indeed, the constant is the same whether the face is illuminated or is in the shadow. The impedance does vary within the vicinity of the edge of the coating; the region of variability depends on the amount of absorption but does not exceed a free-space wavelength for the cases considered. This is an excellent piece of work, which should be of interest to those working on scattering of electromagnetic waves.
