The author discusses a mechanism of the connected reactions due to which a diamond is formed from the natural gas containing carbon. This mechanism is realized if the characteristic time of establishing local equilibrium of pressure, density and enthalpy is much smaller than the characteristic time of the reaction development in the medium.
