A method is developed for computing the gas dynamics of multiscale flows involving supersonic separation at high Reynolds numbers and unsteady discontinuities. It is demonstrated that the method can be applied to current problems in aerodynamics. The method combines a modern finite difference scheme with dynamic adaptive meshing of both moving and nested type.
