This book puts together different variations on a model of regional economics. A substantial part of the material in the book has previously appeared in journal articles and books published by the author. Consequently, the various chapters have only loose connections beside the general theme of regional economics. The individual chapter presentation is rather Spartan, consisting mostly of the algebraic derivation of the results. They generally follow the same structure: derivation of equilibrium followed by comparative statics exercises. Occasionally, the author turns to the issues of stability and multiplicity of equilibria. The author seems content limiting his exposition to the calculation pertaining to derivation of equilibrium. He does not attract the reader's attention to any particular result. Consequently, this book does not convey any strong message beyond the author urging others to use the models he has developed. Other researchers in the field have made stronger and better articulated cases for their approach, such as \textit{M. Fujita, P. Krugman} and \textit{A. J. Venables} [The Spatial Economy, MIT Press (1999), pbk ed. (2001)], probably the leading text in regional economics.
