The paper deals with the problem of computing the inverse of a polynomial matrix. Firstly, it is shown that this problem is equivalent to that of finding a minimal state-space realization for a irreducible matrix fraction description. Secondly, both cases of column reduced and non-column reduced polynomial matrices are considered. In addition, algorithms of easy implementation to compute the considered inverses are developed.
