Both Character User Interface (CUI) and Graphical User Interface (GUI) have their own advantages in a statistical system. A user interface in which a CUI and a GUI are used alternatively and seamlessly is called mixed user interface. The authors discuss the characteristics required for a mixed user interface and present its implementation in the statistical system Jasp (Java based statistical processor). Comparison of presented Jasp with XploRe, SPSS and ViSta is carried out.
