\textit{J. Moon} and \textit{L. Moser} [Colloq. Math. 17, 103-110 (1967; Zbl 0152.39502)] proved that squares with total area \(\geq 3\) permit a parallel covering of a unit square. M. Bogner conjectured that squares with total area \(\geq 2\) permit a (not necessarily parallel) covering of a unit square. The author gives a remarkable proof of this, and conjectures that rectangles with side lengths \(\geq 1\) and total area \(\geq 2\) permit a covering of a unit square.
