The book is the second volume of the monograph ``Hierarchical methods'' Vol 1 (2002; Zbl 1140.78001) containing chapters 9 through 13. The ninth chapter is devoted to EH-accelerators. The author describes their principles of operation and their applications, one of which being the application for waste and natural water purification systems. The tenth one is the introduction to free electron lasers (FELs), their physical mechanisms and their realized designs. The hierarchical single-particle theory of FELs is described in the eleventh chapter. In the twelfth chapter, the hierarchical self-consistent theory of FELs is built using different models. Finally, the thirteenth chapter is devoted to the hierarchical theory of two-stream superheterodyne FELs (TSFELs). It is concluded that TSFELs are very promising and have no real competitors today in many areas of application.
