The authors present an analysis of several ways of preconditioning interface problems related to domain decomposition. In particular, initial analysis of the preconditioners is based on the handling of the vertex unknowns and the type of edge coordinate functions employed. This is followed by a discussion of preconditioning related to arbitrary interface coordinate functions. Additionally, the preconditioners only require element-by-element and edge-by-edge operation which consequently reduce computational cost. Estimates of the generalized condition numbers are given in all cases.
