The paper studies an adaptive filter with a cost function which is a weighted sum of the second and fourth moments of the error process (mixed-norm adaptive algorithm). The resulting filter has a performance which shares positive aspects of both LMS and LMF algorithms. A time variation of the weight coefficient is also allowed in order to follow variations in the environment. Convergence analysis as well as steady-state analysis of the algorithm is studied.
