The author shows convincingly that J. B. J. Delambre (1817) was right in attributing to Hipparchus the use of celestial spherical coordinates and that \textit{O. Neugebauer}, on pp. 277-280 of [`A history of ancient mathematical astronomy. Vol. I. New York: Springer (1975; Zbl 0323.01002)] was wrong in denying this fact.
