The author introduces a spectral method based on Legendre collocation for the Cahn-Hilliard equation. Existence and uniqueness of the solution of the semi-discrete and fully discrete schemes are proved as well as convergence towards the solution of the continuous equation. The discrete scheme satisfies two important properties of the Cahn-Hilliard equation namely conservation of mass and existence of a Lyapunov functional. A numerical implementation of the scheme is also presented.
