An analytical solution is developed that includes the joint effects of Earth oblatness and atmospheric drag on the motion of artificial satellites. The oblate rotating atmospheric model lags behind that of the Earth with increasing distance. The Hamiltonian equations of motion are derived including zonal harmonics of the geopotential up to \(J_4\) and the drag acceleration.
