The authors proved a zero or infinity law for the d-bar cohomology group of a locally closed subset of a Stein manifold. In particular, a necessary condition for a CR manifold generically embedded in a Stein manifold is that its boundary d-bar cohomology group must be either zero or infinite dimensional.
