The author uses a generalization, due to \textit{K. Garrett, M. E. Ismail} and \textit{D. Stanton} [Adv. Appl. Math. 23, 274--299 (1999; Zbl 0944.33015)] of the famous Rogers-Ramanujan identities to prove new polynomial analogues of such identities involving the Schur polynomials.
