Generalized projection and approximation of fixed points of nonself maps (Q1867271)

Using the concept of generalized projection, which extends the notion of metric projection from Hilbert to Banach spaces, the authors obtain weak and strong convergence theorems regarding the approximation of fixed points of some classes of nonself generalized contractive maps, i.e., asymptotically weakly suppressive mappings, asymptotically nonextensive mappings and asymptotically weakly contractive mappings. The obtained convergence theorems extend and improve several results of \textit{Y. Alber} and \textit{S. Guerre-Delabriere} [Analysis, München 21, 17-39 (2001; Zbl 0985.47044)].
