This work presents a spectral estimation method that implements visual analysis of spectral estimates. Visual analysis enables existing expert knowledge to be incorporated within the identification process. The optimal resolution is sought at each frequency using computer graphics in order to provide a compromise between bias and variance of the spectral estimates. The method is illustrated with numerical simulation and identification examples.
