Establishing some hard integral inequalities for multiple integrals, the author is able to derive inequalities for ratios of integrals of heat kernels of certain Schrödinger operators in bounded domains in \(R^{n}\). Such inequalities imply in turn an extension of spectral gap results of \textit{R. Bañuelos} and \textit{P. J. Méndez-Hernández} [J. Funct. Anal. 176, 368-399 (2000; Zbl 0966.35090)].
