The authors provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the closability in \(L^p(E,\mu)\) of the gradient \(D_H\) in the direction \(H\). \(E\) is a separable Banach space, \(\mu\) a Gaussian measure on \(E\) and \(H\) a subspace of \(E\). The authors present also an elaboration of these conditions in the case when the gradient \(D_H\) corresponds to a bilinear form associated with a certain non-symmetric Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator.
