A phase-field model is proposed where the usual energy balance is replaced by an algebraic relationship connecting the space-independent temperature to the order parameter. Such an approximation is made on the basis of asymptotic decay estimates obtained for the original model, in particular for the gradient of the temperature. The existence of moving fronts with several interfaces is proved and their connection to the Gibbs-Thompson law is discussed.
