It is shown that every finite symmetric set of complex numbers is the spectrum of a symmetric in modulus tridiagonal matrix \(A\) which has a nonnegative superdiagonal, a nonpositive subdiagonal, all diagonal elements zero except for \(a_{11}\geq 0\) and \(a_{nn}\leq 0\).
