The authors establish some results that compare the lifetimes of two coherent systems with respect to the shifted hazard rate and the shifted likelihood ratio orders. As a consequence they get new comparisons of different \((k)\)-out-of-\((n)\) systems, and they also get some results on closure of aging classes.
