A distribution function \(G\) on \([0,\infty)\) is said to have a dominated variation if \[ \limsup_{t\to\infty} (1 -G(t))/(1-G(2t))<\infty. \] The paper considers a stable GI/G/1 queue in which the service time distribution has dominated variation and obtains first- and second-order tail behaviour of the busy period distribution.
