This paper analyzes a numerical method to approximate the solutions of convection-reaction-diffusion problems in which convection is dominant. This method combines a \(C^0\)-finite element method for spatial approximation; -- a semi-Lagrangian formulation of a second-order explicit Runge-Kutta-Chebyshev scheme. A careful mathematical analysis of the approximation is detailed and pertinent numerical examples in two-dimensional space illustrate the performance of the method.
