The work presented in this book aims first to provide an overview of the existing literature on currency crises with special regard to the influence of information, and second to provide more details concerning the effects of information dissemination in foreign exchange markets including research results of the author. Moreover, the book aims to provide evidence for its theoretical part based on real-life observations. The book is structured in six parts. Part I reviews critically the classical currency crisis models, i.e. the first and second generation models pointing out their shortcomings. Part II then concentrates on methods on how to overcome the major problems connected with the aforementioned models. Part III is concerned with the influence of different types of information on the probability of a currency crisis. Part IV depicts further theoretical work on currency crises concentrating on aspects of traders/ heterogeneity and dynamic time structures. Part V attempts finally, to find evidence for the theoretically derived results of the previous parts. Part VI at the end of the book summarises some concluding thoughts of the author. The book is suitable for students as well as researchers in the field of economics that deal with currency crises and/or their study, since it combines and provides both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject. It is also suitable for those who deal with applications of game theory to the field of economics.
