The authors give an upper bound of the spectral radius of a Coxeter transformation defined by a tree in terms of the maximal degree of vertices of the tree. This result extends an existing quadratic bound. In a not yet published paper, Y. J. Guo, a student of the reviewer, improves further the result in the paper under review.
