The scheme is described of constructing the theory of irregular curves in the sense of A. D. Alexandrov in multidimensional Euclidean space. The scheme bases on the notion of indicatrix of tangents of a curve in Euclidean space and the notion of development of a spherical curve. This is an English translation of the author's article published in the book [Proceedings of the conference `Geometry and applications' dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Prof. Victor Toponogov.
