The authors give counterexamples to the theorem about sufficient conditions for global attractivity of the unique positive equilibrium of the difference equation \(x_{n+1} = f(x_n)g(x_{n-k}),\) which was proved in an article of \textit{L. T. Li} [``Stability properties of nonlinear difference equations and conditions for boundedness'', Comput. Math. Appl. 38, 29--35 (1999; Zbl 0936.39004)].
