The authors study entropic repulsion properties of a harmonic crystal. Sharp asymptotics on the scale \(N^{d-2}\ln N\) are possible to obtain. If the repelling wall is not flat but rough, namely itself the realization of a harmonic crystal measure, the annealed problem is trivially the same as the hard wall result. If, however, one considers the quenched problem, there is a distinction between the case where the wall comes from the realization of a massive (where the answer is the same as for annealed) and a massless (where the answers are different) model.
