The authors define a condition number for real \(n\times n\) interval matrices \(A^I\) and derive necessary and sufficient conditions for \(A^I\) to be asymptotically stable. Editorial remark: The editors of the journal issued a plagiarism note [ibid. 191, No. 2, 299--301 (2007; Zbl 1193.15021)] of this paper because it is a close copy of [\textit{H. Bulgak}, in: Error control and adaptivity in scientific computing. Proceedings of the NATO ASI, Antalya, Turkey, August 9-21, 1998. Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers. NATO ASI Ser., Ser. C, Math.
