Approximation by generalized Bernstein polynomials (Q1881040)

The author studies the approximation properties of the generalized Bernstein polynomials introduced by \textit{Cao Jiading} in ``A generalization of the Bernstein polynomials'', J. Math. Anal. Appl. 209, No. 1, 140--146 (1997; Zbl 0879.41010). After a short introduction, in the second part of the paper the auhor proves direct and inverse approximation theorems, using Ditzian-Totik's modulus of continuity. In the third section, the Voronovskaja-type expansions for generalized operators are considered. Unfortunately, the paper contains a significant number of typographical errors. Moreover, Theorem 1.1, which is designed to unify two results from the Cao's paper, is misstated.
