In a recent paper, Durante and Olanda gave a combinatorial characterization of the set of all external lines to an ovoid of \(PG(3,q)\). In the present paper, the authors give a similar characterization of the set of all external lines to an hyperbolic quadric of \(PG(3,q)\).
