The paper deals with normal subspaces of an affine partial linear space (APLS). It thoroughly investigates conditions under which an affine partial linear space can be represented as a Segre product of two other such spaces, i.e. it is `decomposable'. Eventually it emerges that an APLS is decomposable iff it contains a proper nontrivial normal subspace.
