This paper concerns a model describing the spatial spread of infectious diseases through distributed populations. The model consists of a reaction diffusion system coupled with an ordinary differential equation and describes direct transmission between individuals and indirect transmission via a contaminated environment. The global existence and approximation of the solutions are investigated.
