The authors consider the Cauchy problem to the Kirchhoff equation \(u_{tt}=M(| \nabla _xu| ^2_{L^2})\triangle u.\) They prove that a solution of the problem may be extended in the Sobolev spaces even in the case of singular coefficient \(M(| \nabla _xu| ^2_{L^2})\) of order one.
