Competition of two plants with toxicity for a common pool of resource before and after the use of pesticide is discussed. Mathematical models for the plants in the two situations are given by two-dimensional systems of ordinary differential equations, and equilibrium states and their stability are analyzed. An optimal control problem in which the cost of fertilizer is determined to obtain the maximum profit from the market of the two plants is solved.
